RS Games – arrival and departure information

July 25, 2018
RS400

WPNSA is at Osprey Quay, Portland, DT5 1SA.

The RS Games will be one of the biggest dinghy sailing events held at WPNSA. Due to the size and complexity, and the fact it is being held over a period of 3 weeks, we need to carefully manage the WPNSA boat park.

There are some obvious pinch points during the 3 weeks, and we ask everyone to follow any instructions given upon arrival and prior to departure, as failure to do so may bring the site to a grinding halt.

May we take this opportunity to thank you in advance or your assistance!

General

During arrivals and departures of any class, we will be operating a one way system through the site. Entry will be through Gate 4 and exit through Gate 6. Once on site, trailers should be unhitched, or boats taken off the roof and vehicles removed immediately to the main car park. There will not be room to park in the unloading area for any period of time and vehicles should not try and re-enter the main compound until the final departure day, as there will not be sufficient space during competition periods.

The car park is located across the road from the main WPNSA site and is free. At busy times, please park as directed by the Parking Marshals.

Boats should not arrive earlier than the day their registration commences. Early arrivals will be placed in the nearest holding area until access to their competition parking area is available.

Competitors will be informed of their competition parking zones and when they can access them upon arrival.

Due to the various overlapping of events, priority of access to the slipway will be given to competing boats at all times.

Site Plan

WPNSA Site Plan

Aero and Tera Classes

Arrival

The Topper National Championships close on Friday 3rd August and they have exclusive use of the WPNSA until their prizegiving is completed.

We anticipate some Aeros and Teras arriving on 3rd August and those who do will be placed in a holding area. It will not be possible to unload trailers and rig boats until the site is cleared of the majority of Toppers. Please do not expect to rig boats on this day.

During Friday evening and the morning of Saturday 4th August, when Registration opens, any remaining Toppers will be located to the holding area until collection. All arriving Aeros and Teras will be able to proceed to their class allocated zones. At this stage we envisage the Teras being located in Zones 2 – 6 with 2 boats per space and the Aeros in Zones 7 upwards. This may vary depending on final entry levels and will be confirmed upon arrival.

Road trailers cannot remain in the dinghy park and will be located adjacent to the holding area or in an area of the car park.

Departure

The Feva Class arrive for registration during the final 2 days of the Aero and Tera events and we anticipate all Fevas being on site prior to the departure of the Teras and Aeros. We request that Aeros and Teras vacate the site as soon as possible after prizegiving on Friday 10th to allow the site to be reorganised for the Feva event. Boats not leaving the site on Friday should be moved to the holding area for collection first thing on Saturday 11th.

Feva Class

Arrival

All Fevas will be located in the holding area until the Teras and Aeros have left in sufficient numbers for the Fevas to move across to the competition areas. We do anticipate Fevas rigging and sailing during the registration period, however, please do not block access to the slipways for the Aeros and Teras.

Departure

The final day of competition is also the start of registration for the 700, 800, 300 & 100 Classes. At current entry levels these classes will either go to allocated competition areas or the holding area until the following day depending on spaces available.

Fevas not departing the site on Wednesday 15th should be moved to the holding area until collection the following morning.

100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 & Vareo Classes.

Arrival

The above classes all overlap considerably. At current entry levels, the majority of boats arriving should be able to go to their allocated competition zones. If numbers become too large due to significant changes to entry levels or late departures, please bear with us if temporarily located in the holding area.

Departures

As with all departing Classes, we hope that wherever possible boats can vacate the site on the final day of competition. If departing the following day, boats should be moved to the holding area when requested to do so.
