Known as one of the most elite amateur events in the country, the Resolute Cup attracts the best of the best to New York Yacht Club in Newport, Rhode Island. The first Resolute Cup was held in 2010 as the U.S. Qualifying Series for the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup. Since its first iteration, the event is sailed every other year out of New York Yacht Club – Harbor Court.
Amateur sailors from around the United States travel to Newport to represent their yacht clubs and compete for national bragging rights, as well as the possibility of a trip to the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup, sailing’s premiere international Corinthian big-boat regatta.
This year’s event will be returning after a four-year hiatus. It was last held in 2018 but was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid. The 2022 Resolute Cup will be sailed September 12th through 17th in New York Yacht Club’s fleet of Sonars and a fleet of RS21s provided by RS. The event is a true one-design event, with provided sails, equalized rig tune and a regular boat rotation.
Teams that were invited to the 2020 event automatically received an invitation to the 2022 event, along with other teams that were invited to compete. There will be over twenty teams competing this September, coming from clubs across the country. Each team has a profile posted where you can learn more about the team and the club they are representing.
